Man, only if I was that spoiled growing up. But, as people have said, the kit doesn't make the DJ.

That's the point...you're lucky. Because there's people in this world like myself that are struggling and less unfortunate, but have just as big of dreams as you. I've worked my ass off too, but i just barely got enough money to get myself a new mixer. I'm just saying you gotta look out for the people in this world that aren't as fortunate as you also!

Don't really agree. Its not like you're helping out the starving kids in africa to the best of your abilities just because you're able to eat properly.
And thats even a more urgent thing than having the chance to make some music.
What would you have him (or anyone) do? Most of us started off by earning their gear piece by piece, thats just how it goes.
The rest is developing skill, proving yourself, making connections and getting your name out there. I think thats what this guy is trying to do at the moment, nothing wrong with that.
Ofcourse there is something to be said for making your music speak for itself rather than copypasting the same story to every board/database/website you can find, but thats the internet for you. Spamming works and people use it to get their name out.

What I mean is, I HAVE been trying to prove myself, I HAVE been trying to get my name out there, but I'm just ignored. Just look at all the sets I have posted on this site! and most of them only have maybe 3 or 4 downloads! I live in a place where I don't have any "connections" So I'm basically trying to work my way up with nothing. I guarantee you this is not just a copy-pasted story. This is the only place where I'm posting about this. I don't usually complain, but I'm at my wit's end, and I'm getting nowhere. What I don't get is how some people like myself, can work their ass of to make mixes and produce tracks, but never get noticed, while other people can make 1 or 2 mixes and not release a single track, but suddenly get popular and get connections.
Sorry to derail your thread Harz, but This has been bothering me for a while.
I became a resident on Fear.FM around a many months ago and I figured it was time to be more active in the Fear.FM and Hard Dance community! This will be the space where I will update ya'll with every single thing "Harzstyle" related!
Firstly, Let me introduce myself and give you a very brief bio..
My name is Harry Francis or Harz. I'm 19 and an upcoming American EDM producer/DJ from Washington DC. Music has always been a leading part of my life. While growing up I was exposed to all kinds of music ranging from Classical to Middle Eastern but my favorite was EDM. My father insists that I fell in love with EDM because my mother went to an early EDM party which at that time was a rave while pregnant with me but I tend to throw off that story! haha! My father did however with his band produce early Disco records that were released on labels in and around Germany. To me, that's a more likely story as to how I fell in love with Dance music. Course.. anything goes! As a child I would sit in my fathers aging studio and play around with his old synthesizers and keyboards. I'd change sounds, push random buttons and all around just have a good time. ( I'll try and put up some pictures of the old gear). As I grew older I spent time exploring other worlds of EDM. It was such an incredible rush when I would stumble upon new and evolved forms of it. I spent the better porton of my early Highschool life doing this. As I continued to grow older my life took two different turns. I started to DJ local parties and school events while my mother and father filed for divorce. This really broke me inside. My escape from depression was music. This experience caused me to begin DJ'ing and to explore the different possibilities of EDM at a much higher level. It was then that music became forever engraved into my soul. In the years after I continued to build relations with the local Hard Dance organizations and through them I was able to have the pleasures of meeting JDX & Headhunterz (Massive inspirations of mine) along with Zany, MC DV8, Donkey rollers, S-Factor, & Wildstylez. I never thought I'd be able to meet my icons in the course of a few years but I did thanks to the help of all that supported Hard Dance in the states.
Here I am now in 2012. Every year incredible things have stacked upon each other. I feel ridiculously lucky to have the opportunities that I do. I've started producing (Seriously ground breaking melodies in my own belief), I've got my mixshow 'Harzstyle", I've got so many Hard Dance friends and family and ofcourse, so much support from you guys! Every single comment, tweet, view, anything that I receive from ya'll really mean the world to me.
I wish I could give ya'll a much longer and more detailed bio about who I am but that will have to come in time. I plan to write a book on the whole experience someday so maybe then I'll have a chance to share everything with you. If there is one thing I've learned the most, It's that dreams absolutely do come true. Whether you DJ infront of a crowd of 1 person or a crowd of 30,000 you're still doing something you love for that 1 person or those 30,000.
So, Thank you all for the support and I'm looking very much forward to being a part of the Fear.FM and Hard Dance family.
