LSDB in 2012 did not have the early terror tag yet ^.^

Coherent incoherence
... And it doesn't even have a breakbeat hardcore tag, nor a new beat, and when there's a track in a set with a sample that says "acid techno worldwide" a MILLION times you can not tag the set with 'acid' in a million years.

Haha!

We can't listen to every set we add. We have to skip through it and sometimes guess the genre. Help is welcome
Bedlam -
I'm not beeng rude but the problem is they make up these tags but then can't match them up because they don't know for instance who the tracks are by in this mix. In other mixes sombody will know and you can add the right tags. If this was some other genre I would not know either. Plus what Hansolo said you can't lisen to them all for a proper judgement

By chance this set is actually the same one he put put out on Underground Radio 18-03-2017 which I did a bit of a tracklist for. The first track you would call Doomcore on here. Other tracks are veering on Frenchcore and other tracks you would call Early Terror on here.

Personal opinion here what does it matter what it's called with whatever genre you want to make up. It's all about what it sounds like in the end that's the important thing. Which again all comes down to personal opinion and taste. I've made plenty of bad opinions and have extremely bad taste (lol).

It's A Dirty Job...
Can't add Doomcore but with Early Terror/Frenchcore you'll get enough info to answer the question 'Do I Want To Listen To This?'

Agreed?..

Exactly! Why has there been so much emphasis to keep making up genres it just makes things worse in my opinion. Gabber (no early hardcore), Hardcore/Happy Hardcore, Acid, Hard Trance/Trance, Breakcore, Jungle, UK Hardcore, Hardstlye (one only), Crossbreed, Frenchcore, IDM, Ambient, New Beat (which there is not one probably my FAV era in electronic music), Techno (you might not need Tekno etc), Jump, Terror, Speedcore + other. Would that not just about cover it as it is not an exact science it's all about the music!!!

A longer post...

I was (hopefully that was clear!) expressing some sarcasm while summing up the situations i encountered here whereby we already talked in depth about which tags/genres will/can be used up here and which ones will need some kind of forum decision. Difficult to put in words why i find it funny, would be easier to explain in Dutch. I respect you but there's a screen in the way to make that clear.

Like i said before, i like breakbeat hardcore/oldskool UK stuff 91-94 which will always be labeled Early Hardcore, Breakbeat or Jungle here, in combinations. They are all 3 right, and this says something:
My point has always been to distinguish, at least for myself, between the big EDM genres (House/Trance/Techno/Breakbeat/Jungle/Hardcore/Downtempo) and the subgenres within the genre (like Drum 'n bass is actually a subgenre under Jungle, not two separate entities or 2 different genres). Question of semantics.
Most places, can be LSDB, online streaming services, ..., while fantastic resources, can obscure the search or sometimes mislabeling sets/music because of the creators' indifference, misinformation but in my view above all the criteria to tag/label something is not performant enough. 90+% of people would think this is nagging (it is) but i think music lovers and collectors like most people up here do use/expect/need non-obscure definitions/tags to define and refine their tastes. Serious, decent producers/dj's/musicians also differentiate along the lines, for the gear they are using, the music they create, the scenes, innovations, ....

Another point is one can not underestimate the branding/marketing/outlook/... of past or new styles, for instance the popular Early (Hardcore), which can be 1) a time period with original tracks 2) contemporary tracks made in the style ala 90's, mostly by younger producers. As long as this is defined clearly i personally don't care at all, but i can imagine promotors use this to their advantage to attract people not knowing to expect, which is both a good thing (the surprise effect) while for 'les connaiseurs' a disappointment at times. I like for instance this description for an event as a music lover https://www.facebook.com/events/531090361013196/ , it's defined and clear.
The Early tag at LSDB en plus could also mean all the 1991-1994 rave stuff covered up, if one would put it to the extreme. One of the reasons why we're filling in the tracklists is imo to label something, to make visible, to give more information, to satisfy, ... .
(A funny fact inbetween, the tag 'Early Terror' was unknown for the well known dj/producer Dj Freak when asked to play in Holland years ago, while everybody knows his tracks fit it perfectly.)
I'm sure the genre pidgeonholing does let new hypes/trends/production methods appear, as crossovers, is it in words, to discuss until eternity, is it in clearly audible results of production processes in the music. My last thought is that i doubt there ever can be new Electronic music GENRES, i think everything basic has been done before, there can only be crossovers now.

For LSDB, i do stand behind tagging as much as possible if the tags are available (90's trance track with a 303 melody line => trance-oldschool-acid.

Let's bown down to our Lord Discogs, and the mighty old & new Ishkur's guide to electronic music (which took the whole genre pidgeonholing to a whole new level but was like meta meta more than anything).

To close this off, this tree diagram of all the possible subgenres of Goa/Psytrance is informative but completely nuts (psycho trance?) and should act as a warning ;)
