2013-07-20 - Kraftwerk 3D -Live- (EMI) @ Obelisk Arena - Latitude Festival, Henham Park - Southwol
After recently playing some of the most talked about gigs of the decade, one of the planet’s most visionary and influential bands come to Henham Park this weekend for a set that is bound to be the talking point of the weekend.
Formed at the end of the 1960’s in Germany, the band first found international success with 1974’s ‘Autobahn’, an album that introduced the sound that would go on to transform popular music for decades to come, influencing everything from hip hop to electro.
After this defining release, it was only a matter of time before Kraftwerk became acknowledged as the global godfathers of electronica. From 1975’s ‘Radio-Activity’ to 2003’s ‘Tour De France’, the seven studio albums that came after ‘Autobahn’ revealed a band constantly pushing the boundaries of technology and expectation. In every sense, Kraftwerk were light years ahead of their contemporaries and so their albums still sound as revelatory and thrilling as they did upon their first release. Now featuring founder and vocalist Ralf Hütter, the band's recent live shows at Tate London, complete with awe-inspiring 3D visuals, saw critics raving about the impact Kraftwerk continue to have on modern music. Whatever else you do this weekend, make sure you don’t miss this rare chance to see a multi media spectacle.
