Dipping back into the electro fetish territory we visited a few weeks ago (courtesy of Om Unit), our latest mix arrives courtesy of a young and ridiculously promising production talent, Mondkopf.

With album two on the horizon and having only racked up 24 years on the clock, French electro newcomer Mondkopf certainly appears to have a gameplan, and if it’s structured anything like his superb ‘Day of Anger’ track (which brashly presents itself as 2011’s finest wonky dancefloor belter yet – think Vitalic, but more so), then fine things await him.

His ‘Love and Hate’ mix is largely a dark, brooding affair, but one which contains enough frantic electro and hard-hitting techno to frequently raise things beyond boiling point, delving into minimal Berlin groove (via Marcel Dettmann remixing Ellen Allien), gritty acid techno (FUSE’s ‘Substance Abuse’) and Burial’s unmistakeable magic – this time remixing recent electro-soul-type Jamie Woon. A mix with atmosphere and energy in abundance.
Mondkopf’s ‘Day of Anger’ EP is released on 16 May, with his second album, ‘Rising Doom’ set for release in September. He also plays Brighton’s Great Escape festival on May 14.
