Though if you delete the forum, PLEASE keep a backup of it somewhere before you do, there's quite a bit of history there (LSDB tournament, the time we went for a Q-Base bunker, etc. etc.) also, I would love to have that backup if possible (I've tried some HTTrack kind of things, but that didn't work last time I attempted it, and while I've saved some pages manually, manually saving the entire non-bot infested part of the forum would be an enormous pain in the ass)
1) The Kamui sound is legendary, its been hugely influential on the british hard dance scene over the last few years! But what style & direction did you originally set out to achieve when Kamui first came together as a production duo? When we started with Kamui, which was back in 2004, we were still kids pretty much loving Hard Trance, Tech Trance, Early Hardstyle so we didn't really think startegically at all we just wanted to do a crossover of the styles we liked back then and release it on a big Hardtrance label like Overdose or Tracid Traxxx and get it played by our childhood heros. I guess thats how most producers start off. You just do whatever you feel like doing at the time.
2) The Kamui sound has mostly sat in limbo between styles, sitting in a much more underground area, are you happy to remain in this unique cross genre? and if so where do you see the future in this style in the coming years? I guess one of our strengths and weaknesses at the same time is that we can't settle for doing the same thing over and over again because it just totally bores us. So we're always looking for this new thrill and sometimes it gets accepted by a wider audience and sometimes it doesn't. To be honest I miss this these days a bit that a lot of producers don't have the courage to just do their own sound but doing Me Too stuff instead, aiming to be the next Swedish House Mafia, Tiesto, or sound exactly like Headhunterz and so on. So whatever we're going to do as Kamui in the future will be something that we personally like the moment we produce it.
3) It has never been so clear that musical trends are changing in todays music scene, Showtek have collaborated with Tiesto, Kutski has been playing B2B sets with Judge Jules, and the Organ Donors are remixing Marcel Woods, Lange, Sean Tyas & Mark Sherry, before all of this Kamui was releasing crossover tunes that almost set precedence to it all, so do you have plans for a major come back with your trade mark Kamui harder sound and take up the reigns again as one of the leading producers in this now ever growing crossover sound? Dominik is finally coming back from the US soon, so we'll have a chance again to sit down together and we certainly will try to deliver new crossover sounds and take it from there. Hopefully we have some new stuff to present at Audio Surgery Ultrasounds :-)
4) It has been announced that you are currently doing a collaboration with the Organ Donors & A*S*Y*S, this is some serious big news for harder edged music! 5 combined producers who are at the forefront of this field, What are your thought on the collaboration concept and what are you hoping to create together? There haven't been a lot of collaborations in the harder dance scene for a while, especially none with three acts teaming up. Everybody tended to brew their own soup. So yeah, why not teaming up for a change. Good things might happen. At the same time I don't expect us to create the best tune ever. That would be too much pressure. Whatever the outcome will be, it's more about the process as such, that we do a track together and share ideas.
5) Lastly, lets end on a good positive note, so whats the most positive thing you can end with, the scene, the music, your career, your personal feelings, anything you want to be positive about? Hey, I have not been all negative here to begin with! ;-)
At the end of the day it's all just music. And music is something positive. Music is all about bringing like-minded people together, anywhere in the world really, to enjoy and celebrate life as such. It doesn't matter what style you produce or play out as long as you're enjoying yourself while doing so, making yourself and others happy! Music has the power to script your life, finding your best friends and love. Everybody has the chance to become part of something absolutely amazing and it's entirely up to you how much you want to be involved :-)
